Aaron's Two Cents: My wife, the draft horse

If you've ever been on a call with me, you've heard my favorite analogy about couples working together on their finances.

One draft horse (think Budweiser) can pull 8,000 pounds on it's own.

You would think that two horses connected together could pull 16,000 pounds. It makes sense, but it's wrong.

Two draft horses that have trained together and pull in the same direction can pull 24,000+ pounds.

Three times what a single horse can do.

Married couples are the same (maybe a few less hooves). One person can do a little. Two can do so much.

But they have to be on the same page. They have to be pulling the same direction.

If you are wondering where to start as a couple who doesn't have their money figured out, start there.

Spend 30 minutes this weekend talking about the vision/future/dreams for your life together.

Then execute on those dreams through your finances.

If you have questions, you can always reply to these emails (I read all responses).

Until next time, Aaron.

P.S. Don't call your wife a draft horse even in the context of this analogy.

"Wealth is not about having a lot of money; it's about having a lot of options." - Chris Rock Aaron's Two Cents: Your life doesn't suck, you just need more options Five years ago, my wife was working a job she hated. She worked 10-12 hour days and came home stressed every day which caused her to lose 15 pounds over a two month period. You wanna know why we needed her to work? To pay for a brand new Subaru Forester and a house that was too big for us. Stupid. I was trading her time, her...
